Thank You For Your Comments

Thanks to my fellow bandsters for your comments on my previous post. Your thoughts on how to know what is enough or too much food for a bandster to eat are running through my head. But, without trying to make excuses, I really do feel like I'm not able to eat enough; it doesnt seem to matter what I try - pasta, omelette, fish, crackers, cheese, ham - after just a couple of mouthfuls I'm full and/or (very) uncomfortable. I really think I should be able to eat more than two mouthfuls for at least three reasons: 1) I need my little boy to see me eat a sensible amount of food, without having to get up from the table to walk around and help the food go down or dash off to the bathroom. I want him to see me enjoy food rather than being stressed over it; I don't want him to think that Mummy has issues around food. 2) I need to eat more 'proper' food from a nutrition aspect. My gums are starting to recede and my hair is getting thin. These things could be coincidental, or they could be a result of my poor diet. 3) I want and need to be able to enjoy food again. For my own sanity. I want to know when I sit down to a meal at home or in a restaurant that I'm going to be able to eat a sensible (bandster) size portion. I am also suffering from heartburn and I know that's definitely not right. So, it's time for an unfill. Maybe 0.25mls, maybe 0.5mls. And then I'll have to see where things go.

  1. I always think that if a person thinks they are too tight, they probably are. The key is to figure out once you are looser what you should eat instead of what you can eat. :) At least for me!

    Good luck, girlie!

  2. I agree with your reasoning, I was having thoughts of going for a fill, because I thought I was too loose, but when I stopped and ate the way we should (protein first and then vege and cards) I realized I was actually at a good place. And that is what you need to do, get to a good place with your band.

Just remember when you do get an unfill, don't let those days of eating anything and everything take over you. You need to stop and take control back. So that you can enjoy your food.

I hope you get your band sorted soon, I too have noticed a few of us having some troubles when we hit the 2-3 year mark!

  3. You are so right you should be able to eat more than two mouthfuls. You should be able to eat 1/2 to 1 cup of solid protein.

With that being said, the heartburn is a sure sign you are too tight. I am so happy to hear that you are getting an unfill, I hope that it works.

As for your young son, he does need to see you eating and not PBing by grandson Adam who lives with me, saw me get sick so much and leave the table that he started complaining that his tummy hurt and that he was going to get sick too. I had to leave the table incognito after that and not make a big deal about being stuck.

They are sponges as you know and they pick up everything that we do.

Hugs I hope the band gets better for you!

  5. Read my "I ate a banana" post from today. I had been too tight and dealing with band drama. It is soooooooo wonderful to be able to eat again. It was near bliss to eat a banana and some yogurt this morning. In the recent past I could barely get my coffee down in the early AM. I know that I have to be careful not to overeat and choose foods wisely. But I can tell you it feels so good to know that there is not a huge list of off limits foods. Instead, there is now a plethora of choices again, I just need to make them healthy. I totally feel for you with this situation right now! Hang in there!!!!! Hope you find a good answer for yourself. :)

  6. Good for you. Based on everything you just mentioned, it sounds like you really do need a bit of an unfill. Glad you are being proactive about your band!
